Linear Motors

Linear motors are electric motors with an unrolled stator and rotor that produce linear force along their length. Unlike a cylindrical rotary motor, a linear motor features a flat active section with two ends. Essentially, if you were to cut a rotary servo motor and lay it flat, you would have a linear motor.

By flattening their forces, linear motors are able to work at faster speeds and with greater accuracy than rotary motors.
