Higher resolution imagers and higher frame rates have put a tremendous strain on traditional copper video cables, resulting in shorter, thicker cables and elaborate, power-hungry active cabling solutions. Meanwhile, fiberoptic Active Optical Cables (AOCs) have improved tremendously in the past 5 years into a reasonably priced, nearly transparent replacement for copper cables.
