Smart Cameras
Smart cameras are self-contained, standalone vision systems with built-in image sensors in the housing of an industrial video camera.
They contain a dedicated processor and all necessary interfaces and components. Smart cameras have the advantage of being more compact compared to PC-based vision systems and are often easier to use. Less powerful versions are often referred to as smart sensors.
Smart cameras are especially suited for applications where several cameras must operate independently and often asynchronously, or when distributed vision is required (multiple inspection or surveillance points along a production line or within an assembly machine).
