Motor Controls

Motor Controls Image

Motor controls manage the overall performance of electric motors. They can manage the starting and stopping of your motor(s), forward and reverse rotation, prevention of errors, regulation or limitation of torque, and speed selection and regulation.

Motor controls vary in feature sets and overall complexity based upon the nature of tasks assigned to the motor(s) it serves, but each does include some form of protection, especially overload relays that cut the power if the motor draws too much energy for too long.

Common examples of motor controls include:

  • motor starters
  • adjustable speed drives
  • servo controllers
  • stepper motor controllers
  • intelligent controllers
