I’m an engineer, but I’m more interested in the business and strategy side. Can I still fit into automation?

Of course!! Automation is more than just AI and Robots. The industry needs marketers that know a few technical things, sales that can walk the walk, project managers, directors, CEOs the list goes on and on! Don’t be afraid to start in a role and move from there, you are NEVER stuck in one place.

I’m trying to build a professional network in automation. Any tips besides just going on LinkedIn?

Tons of tips and here are just a few: Network with purpose. Don’t just reach out to check a box set a goal, find a way to take action after a meeting then get started! Finding events near you is a must, while not everyone has huge shows like A3s automate in their backyard you may have a great regional show nearby while you wait to head over to Automate later in the year! Digital automation communities, these are very limited but check discord and keep a lookout for channels popping up like "axis community" that my team and I created with automation connection and brand neutral training in mind! Always move with purpose and make people you meet feel valued.
