AS-Interface Organization North America is local organization of AS-International (Germany), the nonprofit trade association for AS-Interface (Actuator/Sensor-Interface: ASi) technology users worldwide that controls the rights to develop and sell products using ASi technology, and the certification process for 350 members worldwide. ASi is an industrial networking solution (physical layer, data access method, protocol) used in PLC, DCS and PC-based automation systems, designed to connect simple field I/O devices in discrete manufacturing and process applications using a single two-conductor cable: a networking alternative to hard wiring field devices. ASi can be used as a partner network for higher level fieldbus networks (I/O-Link, Profibus, Ethernet), offering remote I/O. As an open technology supported by many automation equipment vendors, ASi is an international standard (IEC 62026-2). With Safety at Work, ASi provides functional safety in machinery /emergency stop applications.
