I am preparing an application for deburring alum die casting part. The flashing can go 20mil to 50 mil. What will be the best tool and spindle to use for that kind of application, and will a FANUC 710ic50 with handling software do the job? Regards

Rimrock Corporation has extensive experience in finishing die cast parts. Contact information - Jerry Osborn - jlosborn@rimrockcorp.com - 614-509-4193 - www.rimrockcorp.com.

We received some Robotic grippers and want to know more about them. I believe they are for the ingot/smelting industry. Plenty of pics and specs for the interested party. Thanks...

Dan, Rimrock has extensive robotics experience in Die Casting, Foundry and Forging, so it is likely we can help you.

I work in a foundry and we have several ABB robots of different sizes that we used to use in a process for material handling. We no longer perform this process and so the robots have been sitting for several years. All robots were manufactured in the early 2000's. Is it possible to retool these robots with a spindle and upgrade the controllers to use them for light milling applications? Thanks for the help.

Andrew, I can definitely say "probably". This vintage of ABB robots are good robots for deburring/deflashing because of their stiffness.

In general, yhe suitability of a robot for the application depends on part weight (if the robot is carrying the part), and how much material needs to be removed from the casting. When utilizing older robots, you need to consider any repairs that need to be done, and to a lesser extent, the expected life of the automation cell.

If you could send me some information on the robots (Serial numbers), and pictures of the parts you want to process, before and after milling, I could take a look and give you some direction.

Thanks, Mark

I am looking for a robotic system to assist with handling ceramic molds and castings that weigh at least 60 pounds. We have had several lumbar strains from lifting these molds because they are handled at least 10 times each by the employee. The molds are fragile. We do have robotics in the facility to dip the molds in the ceramics. Do you have any recommendations?

Christine, I'm coming into this party a couple of weeks late, but Rimrock is a robotics systems integrator, specializing in foundry applications. By your description, it sounds like you application is investment casting. Please give me a call to review your application at your convenience.
